Pork Fat Rules

So, even though I did not personally cook a turkey for Thanksgiving, I was able to swindle my future father-in-law's turkey for my own benefit. Here's where it gets interesting... I used the turkey to make Turkey Cakes (like crab cakes, but with turkey instead, fool). And they were great. I loosley followed a recipe I saw on Emeril Live for chicken cakes exactly, but with a dijon sauce, and Aditi said she never ate turkey and enjoyed it as much as this.
I rule at life.

Student- Teaching??

So my cooperating teacher was sick, and called out today. I, however, was present and did the lessons for the day.
The interesting thing is this, my friends... I am not allowed to be in the classroom with students without supervision. I mean, there has to be someone with certification in the room at all times. So, my cooperating teacher called for a sub.
Now, I don't doubt the necessity for the sub, or the validity of that policy. I do feel bad, however, for the sub. He just has to be in the room. I'm teaching... I'm reviewing homework... I'm passing back quizzes... He's reading the paper.

My Cousin rules.

I have recently been tutoring my cousing in math. She's enrolled in a Catholic high school, taking Algebra 2.
Last Sunday, I was looking through her notes and realized that some of the first examples in her notes were wrong. And they all had the same error. So, I pointed them out to her, and she said that her teacher had never mentioned anythin about them, and that she had copied them strait from the board. So I said she might want to bring it up to the teacher, so that everyone else in class doesn't make the same error consistently.
She approches the teacher and something like, "I think this might be wrong. My tutor said that when you divide by a negative number, you have to switch the direction of the inequality." And the teacher maintained that she was right.
Instead of letting it die there, liek so many students would, she asked another teacher, who happened to be the chair of the math department at that specific high school. Of course, the chair realized the error, and informed the teacher.
This past tuesday, My cousin had a test. She got a 99%.

Ninja v. Samurai

I think the argument is clear that ninjas are cooler than pirates.

However, it came to me as I awoke this morning, that there might be a more interesting debate below the surface. Ninjas or Samurai?
Ninjas still have all the stealth and sneakiness that was afforded them in the pirates debate, but now they have to deal with superior swordsmanship and an undeniable sense of honor from the samurai.
The jury, so to speak, is still out.

Dream - 11-8-05

So, there I was, at my mom's old house before she sold it, in the back yard by the pool, and a small child walks through the gate. Following him are a couple more, slightly older children. The children start to congregate around the pool, as more, older children filter through. I look through the gate, and there is a tour bus of sorts with religious pictures painted on the side.
I push my way through into the center of the stream of people and prepare to stop someone to ask what is going on. I bypass a couple of females, and think that it's better if I don't act threatening to the girls... I stop a young man and ask him who the group is, what they're doing here, and the like, but he alludes me.
I notice a couple of young women about my age with priest collars attached to orange tee-shirts, and then the man that I assume is in charge. I assume this, because he is a good 2 feet taller than I am. So I stand on a bench to talk to him, and try to figure out what he's doing in my back yard, swimming in my pool, without permission or announcement.
Finally, I make an analogy: How would you like it, if I were to come to your house, sit on the toilet, take a dump, and then use your shower. Would you like that? He responded with a somber face, recalling a time when someone had broken into his monastery. He called for the children, and they left the yard.

French Week at SHHS

Leave it to the French to start French week on November 8th... half way through the week.
